Bikeability cycle training for all ages
Newbury, Thatcham, Cold Ash, Hermitage, Bucklebury and surrounding areas

Bikeability is the Cycling Proficiency Test for the 21st century, designed to give the next generation the skills and confidence to ride their bikes on today's roads. There are three Bikeability levels and children will be encouraged and inspired to achieve all three levels, recognising that there is always more to learn and to enjoy on a bike. Click level 1, level 2 or level 3 to read more about each level, what's involved and the requirements for each.

Cyclenow teach the new Government approved Bikeability courses, that are different to the traditional Cycle Proficiency training because they are taught on real road conditions, by accredited instructors who actually cycle.

As well as the three Bikeability levels Cyclenow is also able to offer tailor made courses to suit you or your children from cycling without stabilisers to commuting routes to your school or workplace. Read more here.

Cyclenow is one of the new breed of cycle skills training providers and is supported in its work by the CTC, the UK's National Cyclists Organisation.

What people are saying.......

My son very much enjoyed taking his Level 2 course.  He has gained in confidence on the road and learnt some of the skills that will allow him to anticipate other road users and ride more safely. Excellent instruction and we feel it is an essential course for all new cyclists on the road.

Excellent level 2 course that has given our son the confidence and enthusiasm to get out there and ride his bike at all available opportunities. He is no longer fearful of the road, but respects it and is confident of his new found skills and ability. Thanks Simon.

Having been allocated the task of arranging some cycle training courses at my son’s school, I can honestly say that Simon made it all very easy.  After just a couple of telephone conversations and an email or two, my task was complete!  Simon is extremely professional and from the feedback received from other parents, he is undoubtedly a very good instructor too.

Thomas thoroughly enjoyed the session and has started to apply what he has learnt whilst cycling with us.  I feel more confident in allowing him to cycle to see friends in the village.  The course offers so much more than the old cycling proficiency from our childhood as it encompasses riding on the road.  Thomas particularly enjoyed the last session cycling to Kennet school and going to the park with the ramps!!

Thank you Simon for providing Thomas with this vital life skill -  a big tick in the box for both of you!!

Bikeability was certainly a very worthwhile course and I would encourage other children to participate. John enjoyed the course and would have liked to go on a few longer cycles to practice what they had learnt but I guess that's where I come in! It's essential with the roads being so busy these days that children are taught how to carry out maneuvers correctly on a bike and it's a skill that will hopefully last a lifetime. Simon you were the perfect instructor making the lessons serious but not heavy going so a big, big thank you for your time and patience

Thank you again for all your hard work re Bikeability. My daughter is really pleased to have completed the course. It has given her a huge sense of achievement and, as well as gaining cycling skills, she thought it was fun and energetic. There isn't anything she wishes she hadn't done, she enjoyed everything, even cycling up the hill.

My son has recently completed the level 1 course at his school and he thoroughly enjoyed the sessions.  Although he is a fairly experienced cyclist for his age, this course taught him the right way to handle his bike and to perform the basic manoeuvres correctly.  I’m sure he’ll be signing up for the level 2 course very soon.
