The schrader valve type is like a car valve and most common on childrens bikes and mountain bikes.
You can only fix so many punctures and also a good spare to take on a long ride or holiday - check the inside of the tyre before putting in a repaired or new tube as the thorn or other object may still be sticking through- be careful though as you may cut yourself - using a tissue is a good idea as it will rip and leave a tell tale sign of where the offending item may be poking through.
